From the Principal

 Mark Quinlan

Welcome to Box Hill Senior Secondary College.  Box Hill Senior Secondary College is a Year 9 to 12 co-educational school.  Established in 1943 as the Box Hill Technical School for boys, the College became coeducational in 1985 when it amalgamated with the Whitehorse Girls Technical School. It formed the basis for the establishment in 1984 of the Box Hill Institute of TAFE. In 1993, the College became a Senior College as part of a reorganisation of schools across the State.

Our mission is: learning to make a life; learning to make a living; and learning to make a difference.  Our core focus is on quality learning to enable our students to achieve the College mission.  Every student knows and understands ROaR – Ready to Learn – being responsible for their learning; being organised; and being respectful for the learning which enables greater success for student outcomes.

Specialist Sports

Many students enrol at Box Hill Senior Secondary College because of this unique sport development program which features Tennis, Basketball, Netball and Australian Rules football (Boys & Girls) plus an Athlete Development program. Students in this program combine their sports training and development in conjunction with their academic program. This specialist sporting program acknowledges that students must also plan for a career beyond their sporting aspirations.

The College offers a rich learning environment that enables our students to reach their potential whether it be a pathway into a local or overseas university or other tertiary studies or apprenticeship or traineeship.  Our staff are committed to providing successful academic and vocational pathways, through VCE, VETis and VCAL, for all of our students.

Our dedicated staff encourage students to become creative and confident future leaders through a tradition of academic rigour, whilst developing a strong sense of social responsibility.

I look forward to meeting you on a College tour and discussing with you and your family on how we can provide an educational pathway for your child.
