Instrumental Music

Box Hill Senior Secondary College is proud of our outstanding and contemporary music and production facilities, which provide students with an opportunity to explore and develop their music skills with their instrument of choice. The Instrumental Music program utilises a range of general resources such as a general purpose Music classroom, individual practice studios, recording studio and access to a range of personal recording options when students are showcasing or reviewing their musical performances.

As part of the NEVR music network, we are committed to provide students with 1:1 tuition, coupled with access to electives at Years 9 and 10 and senior secondary subjects, courses and pathway options such as VCE Music and VET industry courses.

Instrumental Music participation is by application and a small fee based on the extra-curricular nature of the program at the College.  Lessons are currently available in the following areas for 2024:

  • Voice
  • Percussion (Drums)
  • Guitar and Bass
  • Piano / classical and keyboard

If students wish to pursue instrumental lessons in another area of music, these can be discussed on enrolment into the school. Our program is highly inclusive and regardless of skill level, there is always an opportunity to grow knowledge and skills within the instrumental music program. As part of the instrumental music program, we will always encourage students to record their work as a measure of progress throughout the year, given the high-quality resources available at BHSSC within our Music and Performing Arts Centre.
