Box Hill Senior Secondary College (BHSSC) has been an innovator and pioneer in the provision of specialized sport development proograms in secondary college settings in Victoria.  The first BHSSC sport academy program (basketball) was established in 1995 and there are currently over 200 athletes involved in the following programs:-

  •  Athlete Development
  • Basketball
  • Football - AFL
  • Football - AFLW
  • Netball
  • Tennis  

The College provides a unique environment where gifted athletes are able to combine their goals in their chosen sport with a comprehensive and stimulating education. The sport development sessions are incorporated into the school timetable as part of the student’s daily and  weekly schedule and no after school training sessions are required.

Athletes are coached and mentored on a regular basis by coaches and  sport scientists, all of whom have played or coached at an elite level, many having experience working at professional clubs and with professional athletes and international representatives.  Partnerships developed with a wide range of organsiations including the Collingwood Football Club, Basketball Victoria, Vida Tennis, Melbourne Boomers Basketball Club, Tennis Victoria, AIS and VIS, AFL Victoria & Oakleigh Chargers Football Club, Deakin University and many national and state sporting organisation provide additional support for our students.

In the past twelve months, College sporting teams have achieved some outstanding results winning state and/or national competitions in basketball, tennis and netball.  Many athletes, especially those playing basketball, have represented Victoria and/or Australia in National and International competitions.
